PUBLIC NOTICE – WAHPETON CITY COUNCIL

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO CITY CODE CHAPTER 76 – PERTAINING TO BICYCLE, ELECTRIC SCOOTER, LOW-SPEED ELECTRIC BICYCLE, AND OTHER MICROMOBILITY DEVICES

 

 

Notice is hereby given that the Wahpeton City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 12, 2026, at 5:00 PM at the Wahpeton City Hall, 1201 Dakota Drive, Milford, Iowa 51351, for the purpose of considering amendments to Chapter 76 of the Wahpeton City Code, entitled Bicycle and Micromobility Regulations.

The proposed ordinance includes comprehensive revisions to the City’s regulations governing the operation and use of bicycles, electric scooters, low-speed electric bicycles, and other micromobility devices on the City’s streets, sidewalks, multi-use trails, and in parks, including, but not limited to, definitions; application of traffic laws; riding and speed restrictions; right-of-way requirements; operation on sidewalks and multi-use trails; operation in parks; towing; improper riding; use of personal electronics; impaired operation; parking; equipment and lighting requirements; bicycle helmet requirements; violations and enforcement; and other related amendments intended to clarify and update the City’s regulations.

A copy of the proposed ordinance is available for public inspection by contacting the City of Wahpeton or visiting Wahpeton City Hall.

At the time and place specified above, all interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard. The City Council may consider revisions to the proposed ordinance before taking action.
